About Memorial Stone Cremation Urns

Memorial stone cremation urns make an attractive addition to a garden or indoor memorial. These cremation stones look much like a small headstone, only a bit wider. The front side is typically slightly angled, and a quote or short saying is engraved there. Many stones also have space to hold a small personalized plaque.

Typically, cremation memorial stones are not full-size urns; they only hold about 33 cubic inches (just over 2 cups) of ashes. Since each pound of a person's weight before cremation is equal to about 1 cubic inch of cremains, the urn will not have space to hold the ashes of the average adult. If you're looking for a larger stone urn, you may want to consider one of our granite urns.

One benefit of choosing an urn from among our cremation stones is that they are designed to look beautiful indoors or out. Each stone urn is made to be weatherproof and should last in your garden for a lifetime. If you'd prefer to keep the stone inside, its relatively small size means that you can easily place it on a mantelpiece or bookshelf. With free ground shipping, your urn will arrive quickly and safely at no extra charge.

Stone Engraving

Most of our cremation stone urns are engraved with a standard quote or saying, such as “In memory of a faithful friend and companion" or “Gone yet not forgotten." If the urn can be personalized, it will have a small brass plaque that is engraved with your requested text attached to the front of the urn, typically below the standard engraved message. You also have the option of choosing cremation stones that do not include any standard quote; these urns offer an engravable black marble insert that covers the entire front.

All of the engravable stone garden cremation urns from Perfect Memorials have space for 3 lines of text with 18 characters each. This will give you space to add the deceased's name, dates of birth and death, and a brief personal message. The engraving is done in a clear, easy to read font, and at no extra charge.

Choosing the right size urn

Try finding an urn with our easy cremation urn finder.

Choosing the right size urn is easy. For every one pound before cremation you will need 1 cubic inch of volume. For example, a loved one weighing 200 pounds will need an urn that is at least 200 cubic inches or larger. Choosing an urn larger then you need is OK.
